I wrote this just now. I hope you guys enjoy it. :)
Volunteer work is so lame. Ever since my participation in the Senior Prank, I had to do at least 150 hours of community service before the end of the year in two months. Sure, it involved vandalism of school property but who the hell liked the principle anyways?
This week I thought I might give it a try to work at the old folks home a few blocks away from my house. I figured that I’d read to a few grams and gramps, play checkers with them, maybe feed them, and it’d be the easiest way to get my last few hours in before I knew it.
I went up to the front desk and filled out the proper paperwork. They didn’t even assign me any of the duties I thought I’d be assigned to. Most of it was menial work like cleaning or gardening, which did have some interaction, but most of these old people were crazy! It was all easy, though, so I couldn’t complain. And I might even score some bonus points with the ladies since surely they appreciate sensitive stuff like that.

Artwork I made I saw in my latest dream. It is very exaggerated but the main idea is there.
Is this what you posted in the group? It came up as a blank post again :| Fantastic work, though. I saw a sigil in a dream, once, and you made me remember just now. I’m going to try to draw it now!
Chaotic Sigil Magick - by Tonya Kay
(with a few words from me thrown in)
Every witch is familiar with intention-based magickal workings: Know Thy Will, focus intention through a process or on an object, direct the focused energy, then expect manifestation. For a simple example, my Will is “I will be healthy and fit.” I then focus my intention of health onto an apple, directing that intention by eating an apple several times a day. Finally, I expect my body to manifest itself as healthy and fit (yes, sometimes magick is really that simple).
One thing that really bothers me is when people want to be healthy but don’t take the proper steps. If you genuinely want to be healthy, take yourself out to exercise and change your whole diet. Not just one meal or snack. You have to change your lifestyle in order to be healthy. Health is not something that can automatically manifest. You have to make it happen.
I prefer intention-based magick when performing Elemental workings. But when Chaos is my ritual’s force majeure, nonintention seems to be most effective. After all, as powerful as consciousness is, it is exactly what can screw up a spell. Self-sabotage is often subconscious and quickly and cleanly effective. Working with Chaos through nonintent ritual, eliminates the consciousness variable by allowing the unmanifest to randomly express exactly what you didn’t know you had Willed in an act of pure epigenius. Wild Chaos. Wise Discord.
Agreed. People don’t realize how out of controll they are of their subconscious until they practice an art in which it plays an important role. It always has a sense of humor too. It’s not uncommon for me to find play-money when I sigilize for real money >:[ Me: “SONOVA BITCH.”
Nonintention-based magickal workings vary slightly from the intention-based sort: Know Thy Will, erase intentions from the conscious mind through an automatick perfection task, imprint task’s perfected symbol of forgotten intention onto the unconscious, live your life and forget about all of it.
Yup, basic technique. Although I would say that you don’t have to forget about it completely. You’ll be fine if you just don’t focus on it. Once you start to over-analyze it, you kill the power.
Austin Osman Spare’s sigil magick is a beautiful system of nonintent. Even the simplest sigil spell is extremely effective. An outline for creating a basic sigil is: I write out my Will in capital letters: “I WILL BE COVETED.” Then I begin the process of erasing my intention by crossing out any letter that appears twice, leaving me with: “IWBCOVTD.” I write the remaining letters directly on top of one another, noticing what new shapes are being made. Sketching and resketching my way into artistic trance, where I am essentially performing automatick drawing, I define a new story from the previously overlapped shapes. My goal is perfection of the sigil, not artistic merit (necessarily). The task is perfect when I am done. I then imprint the new sigil deeply into the unconscious through orgasm, entheogen, or physical exhaustion. Finally, I forget about forgetting about it and live my life.
I shift in my seat a bit uncomfortably when I read sigil magick being called a ‘spell’. I don’t entirely know why. Anyways. I do find myself in a bit of artistic trance when I draw sigils but sometimes I don’t need/worry about that. The firing does that bit. I’m surprised this article mentioned entheogens because I haven’t seen that anywhere. :)
The challenge and opportunity in this style of Chaos Magick lies in the honest erasing of intent. If I am thinking about “being coveted,” or thinking about “forgetting the desire to be coveted” while drawing, I am performing an intention-based working rather than a nonintent working. Success in sigil magick, in this case, would be defined by becoming completely unable to recall one’s original intent. The honest erasing is the key.
I disagree here, once again. In my experience, all that matters is forgetting after/during firing it off. I suppose the former is a bit more practical, but I feel that if you are thinking about how much you want it then that adds energy and strengthens your will, thus imbedding it further into your subconscious.
The article continues into a step by step commentary on the process. Read the complete article here:
Also, there’s a picture of a naked woman at the end of the article. Srsly.
We have to create culture, don’t watch TV, don’t read magazines, don’t even listen to NPR. Create your own roadshow. The nexus of space and time where you are now is the most immediate sector of your universe, and if you’re worrying about Michael Jackson or Bill Clinton or somebody else, then you are disempowered, you’re giving it all away to icons, icons which are maintained by an electronic media so that you want to dress like X or have lips like Y.
This is shit-brained, this kind of thinking.
That is all cultural diversion, and what is real is you and your friends and your associations, your highs, your orgasms, your hopes, your plans, your fears.
And we are told ‘no’, we’re unimportant, we’re peripheral. ‘Get a degree, get a job, get a this, get a that.’
And then you’re a player, you don’t want to even play in that game. You want to reclaim your mind and get it out of the hands of the cultural engineers who want to turn you into a half-baked moron consuming all this trash that’s being manufactured out of the bones of a dying world.” —Terence McKenna
I’ve received more submissions today than any other day in the history of this site! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it. That’s what I made this site for, and it feels great to be doing that.
I think that work better with entities, if you imagine your sigils with personalities and a body, you can make them interact and do on comics what you want them to do in reality. Like imagine your monkey sigil fight that dreaded job monster
You know what? You’re right. That could absolutely work. Ohhhh I love you guys!
